Start Registration

The quickest way to start is to visit our Web Client’s registration form and follow the instructions. We will then send you an email to activate your account. During this step, all initial secrets are generated. These secrets will encrypt vault data in your browser before it is stored on our server. The initial secrets are also encrypted on the client before transmission.

First Login

After registering, log in to our Web Client. The Web Client downloads the encrypted secrets in the background and decrypts them with your password.

First Password

Now it is time to create your first password. Right-click in your datastore and select “New Entry.” You can create folders and move items by dragging and dropping them. The password datastore is the central location for all your notes, passwords, and other secrets and is encrypted with the initial secrets created during registration.

Import Passwords

Were you already using another password manager? Psono includes a migration feature that can import files exported from other password managers. If your password manager is not listed, feel free to open a feature request and include a sample export to help us add support.

Generate Recovery Code

People sometimes forget passwords. The only way to recover an account after losing your password is to use a recovery code. We advise everyone to create one and store it securely. Each account can have at most one recovery code; creating a new code overwrites the existing one.

Setup Multifactor Authentication

The best way to protect your account after a password breach is to use a second factor. Psono currently supports Google Authenticator and compatible apps, such as Quant or Authy, as well as YubiKey OTP. These methods can be combined with your password for additional protection.
